I think it’s a type of vape, but it was popular a while ago and I haven’t heard much since. Maybe this is an old meme?

Edit: quick search with an AI result appearing to pull from a pdf from a site against kids getting tobacco: JUUL’s popularity peaked in late 2018 and early 2019, reaching over 70% of the US e-cigarette market. Since then, its market share has declined, falling to 42% by July 2020 and 36% by March 2022.

Yea, needs a new upswing at 70 for “living alone” like, it’s potentially sad, but just being able to live on your own gets more impressive the older someone is

Those were the days. Skateboard competitions, scouring the streets and malls at 3 am. This was my board. Custom design by Wee Willy Winkles in Canada.

Here is me back in the day riding it.

A Toft design, 8 wheeler. Custom bearings, wheel wells, lifters, extended trucks. Was made for me to go faaaaast down hills but I could also do most tricks as well. Helps when your friend has a skateboard factory.

Not that old. Juul isn’t even that old. When I used vaping to quit smoking before stopping both, you had to have a basic understanding of electronics for mechanical and box mods to make coils and such. Tanks weren’t that great at that point so I used a drip tip which I did actually enjoy at the time. I recognize this might sound like being like hipster or something, but its crazy seeing where vaping is now.

Damn. Guess its been longer than I thought. Cause juul didn’t become a thing until after I had stopped. I remember other early vapes tobacco companies were trying to break in with but they were disgusting and the flavors didn’t even come close to as good as what others had been already been making.

I remember it being big news in the vaping world when walmart started carrying vapes. I went out and bought some awful eGo pen and the world’s worst tasting juice in 2.4% nicotine. I managed to get through the little 20ml bottle of sour apple but the java flavor was so awful it remained my backup ‘it’s this or withdrawals’ juice for the better part of a decade. I think I picked withdrawals most of the time.

I would change the ‘complaining about young’ people with ‘complaining about everything’.

That half-pipe in the graph looks very tempting. I can’t wait until I’m 80 so I can be a cool skateboarder again.

If a 100 yo is still living alone he is metal as fuck. If a 100yo is breathing he is already cool, anything they do is already a win

Depends if they’re just wasting away alone or still active and healthy.

There’s nothing cool about having to live alone because the person you been married to for 50+ years died and you can’t bring yourself to meet soemone else out of heartache, even after 10 or 20 years.

It is pretty cool though if you do manage to meet someone else, when you’re 90 and now you’re popping viagra like candy.

I disagree with the “complaining about young people” line having coolness increase proportionally with age: when I was a young adult, I often joked about kids these days in a way that seemed to get a lot of laughs. The humour was in the fact that I was a young person talking about young people as if I wasn’t one of them (and beneath that was me making light of the text that, likely due to being autistic, I have always felt isolated from my peer group).

Anyway, I got good at leveraging this for humour, but as I aged, the joke potential expired: I was too old for there to be any irony in saying “kids these days”, but not old enough for it to be cool to complain about young people.

On the bright side, I am sufficiently old to be able to torment young people by misusing their slang. It’s most likely effective if you use the slang in a mostly right way, so I enjoy the challenge of needing to actually understand correct usage of new slang. Amusingly, studying current slang as an outsider is a skill I’m well versed in, given that I had to do this even when I was young.
