You can do that on Daily Kos too. I am permanently banned from commenting due to it. Those fuckers are too DNC oriented any way.

To be fair, lemmy.world response was more like “can you folks please not get us nuked IRL, we have to remove the most colourful posts, sorry” and not this Reddit response, which is more like “has anyone seen Spez? He locked himself in the closet with a shotgun aimed at the door, and we hear some agitated breathing from that direction every time someone nearby plays a Mario game”

Damn I thought reddit would stay save from the new usa censorship. Next step will ban liberal or anti trump posts and communities for sure. Seems like I moved to Lemmy at just the right time.

Well, maybe I was just in the wrong reddit spaces to notice. I didn’t see any occasion (or article) that mentioned censorship like it’s happening on Twitter. Even things that are commonly censored in social media like posts about death and suicide were not censored. I’d love to know more if this was happening outside my bubble.

Probably because culturally reddit has historically been aligned with the US narrative. The haven’t needed heavy handed censorship.

I guess I was just unaware of spez’ opinions and political alignment. It will just solidify my decision to dump American social media all together.

There’s going to come a point when the things we can’t say may need to be said. A time when the message is delivered with blank comments.

[ . . . ] will carry a message of it’s own that becomes much more difficult to ban.

you cant eve say black person or demographic without getting reported in many cases, so i just use AA abreviate instead, when referring to the people most hurt by gop and economic policies.

The way things are going these corpo social media shill ops will be just bots talking about shit ruling class feels good about and every person with a normal opinions will be banned.

They then will expect people to mirror the bot’s narrative without engaging because they think we are this stupid lol

I have a suspicion that I was followed by a mod who banned me and accused me of “throwing a tantrum” and muting me from contacting him again when I asked him to justify his ban for “promoting violence” when I very plainly hadn’t. I kept getting bans for the same thing across various other subs for similar non promotion of violence, rather laughing about the idea of a politician possessed by the ghost of GG Allin ruining their life with antics, and for harrassment for some post that wasn’t even deleted when I got my ban, so I have no idea what it even was.

No time for that kind of nonsense. The “you’re in trouble for liking the wrong comments” step is the final step into full mean girl pettiness. Reddit has become an HOA.

some large subs can crossban you, if the bots of a specific sub detects you went into a controversial sub they deemed as “brigrade threat”. i once commented in joe rogan was immediacy banned from 2 subs.

Mods on Lemmy are a bunch of Napoleonic cunts as well. I’m constantly having posts censored and deleted without clear reason or explanation.

your post was removed because it didn’t look like it was from a microblog. i think posting the screenshot of the microblog post you got it from would work out. you can check the modlog.

Didn’t know about the modlog thanks. That was indeed the reason my post was censored even though it very obviously looks like a microblog, is identical to all the other community posts, and is a quote from 1937 so it doesn’t matter who reposts. Unsurprisingly, mods are great at censorship, splitting hairs and being pedantic though.

Ive been on Reddit for 10 to 15 years. Its always been a strange place but ive never seen anything like what’s going on at the moment.

    • weird rules (like ‘Luigi’) being applied system-wide without being communicated
    • automated actions applied to individual users site-wide, like allowing them to engage but preventing them from creating posts anywhere
    • over zealous mods. I’m assuming a lot of mods got sick of it and left over the last few years and those doing the work are under experienced. Or maybe just AI. Its possible.
    • GPTs engaging in posts and comments for training
    • agents from hostile governments agitating and spurring on political discussions that favour their agenda.

So yeah I’m giving up on it now, its just no fun anymore.

I am pretty sure a bunch of mods on big subreddits are actually Reddit employees cosplaying as normal users too.

Oh, and Reddit is now shadow banning your accounts when you evade a ban on a sub. So now I got all my accounts shadow banned because I ended up commenting on a sub I was banned on one account without noticing it, so I have zero reasons to go back to using reddit anymore. At least before I got a ban and was notified about how long it would take for my accounts to be usable again, now they are shadow banned without any notifications and I have no idea if they will ever go back to normal or not, so fuck it.

5-6accts were simulatenouslly banned last month, because i was temp banned for reporting someone, so it triggered thier “AI to look for any account they can ban”. they also retroactively(i assume) applied the ban to any accts you made, if any of your accts even if deleted years ago participated in getting banned in a subreddit. allegedly i heard a ban/shadowban can last over a year, but im pretty sure its arbitrary and most likely switched to being permanent in most cases.

r/technology decided to ban me for reporting obvious misinformation, and conversation manipulation around a trump post.

oh yea i know some admins can be the mods. there are 92 mods that own over 500 subs, so i would think they are part of this power group of mods. and then we got the lowly mods of the regular subs. i heard about the blanket shadowbans in another site, they still do that to people who had100s of accts, but it also hit regular people too, that dint even violate a policy, so im thinking its an AI doing all these bannings and so many innocents are just caught up, and they cant even repeal it.

Yeah, this sure. But I think primarily Reddit doesn’t want its platform to be used to organize and protest. This is how they are setting the stage.

I am not surprised though. Someone with money is now exerting influence because Reddit is the most popular place for the resistance to oligarchy. Oligarchy aim is to own all media and they believe that will be the end of resistance’s ability to spread messages.
