Maybe this question seems stupid, so be it. But I’ve seen mostly bad news, and I struggle to get away from it.

I want to know this: What do you think is going to be good and or great in the upcoming four years of us politics?

I’m not holding my breath but this could be a huge turning point for the Democratic party where they may finally follow in the populism playbook that Bernie started in 2016.

If everything works out okay yay.

If everything goes to shit republicans have nobody to blame because they have a majority everywhere and we can vote them out.

And the democrats got a wakeup call they can learn from (but they played the same 2016 tactics and got the same 2016 prize so we’ll see if it sticks)

Minorities. Immigrants. Illegals. The poor. The middle class. Big tech. The economy. China. India. They will always find something.

That assumes there are no shenanigans with those elections. I believe we will have them. We’ll just have to see how fair they are.

There’s a chance that Musk has bought himself enough influence to turn conservatives on climate change. I don’t know if I expect it, exactly, but there’s a chance at a scenario where there is at least some progress there.

Granted Musk will mostly use it to enrich himself, but if he at least stops then from repealing green subsidies and the like, that’s movement in the right direction.

The tariffs might increase US manufacturing as many people won’t want to trade. Maybe.

For people who have 401Ks or other investments, the likely deregulation pushes up stock prices (which is why the stock market had a big bump this week). Oh, sure, those regulations help protect the environment, workers rights, worker health and safety, etc., but: image

don’t give a shit about MAGA but I’m all for MAHA with RFK Jr being on Trump’s team, keeping an eye on him to see if he’ll be able to take on the corrupt elements of Big Pharma and the FDA

The torrent of lies and absurd statements should keep the rest of the world entrained. For most Americans, it’s probably going to be horrifying, tragic and/or embarrassing.

Sorry, but you guys stopped being fun to watch a while ago.

It’s now gone well beyond train-wreck levels of horrified “can’t look away” viewing.

Nothing too drastic will occur. It never does. Tariffs will go up. Things will get more expensive. Rich people will be taxed less the middle class and poor people will be taxed more. There will be another wave of systemic racism perpetuating through American society.

Marijuana will become less legal. For some reason the Republicans still have a thing for weed…

The bottom line the man is 80 years old. It’s very possible that he just may step down at some point, which would probably be worse in the long run.

Israel will get significantly more support to wage genocide and Ukraine will get significantly less support to defend their own country. Trump will push for some sort of concession that Ukraine will give up some of their land and enter into some kind of agreement that they won’t request entry into NATO for a long period of time.

Longer prison sentences for relatively minor crimes…

Hardened anti-abortion rhetoric will continue to work against women simply trying to make medical decisions instead of potentially getting abortions.

Basically the same thing that’s happening now in the country. Just more of it.

Great question. I expect more people will move away from identity politics and embrace one of its many criticisms such as queer politics which is more inclusive of everyone.

Scholars have identified queer politics as the opposite of identity politics, aiming to unite diverse marginalized groups and transcend traditional categories.

I don’t really see him living for another 4 years. I expect his diet, lack of exercise and excess of bike to kill him off; assuming some whackadoodle doesn’t get to him first.

I fully expect an incessant torrent of smug assholes on every corner of social media I go to alongside a never-ending stream of horror stories of all the shitty things that people are doing to other people.
