I would imagine since Firefox is licensed with Mozilla Public License (MPL), that they would be able to continue using the source code and adding additional features and other improvements (as long as they follow the MPL). However, since the base code itself would no longer be getting updates, anyone wanting to continue with a fork would have to fix any bugs and security issues that may be discovered going forward.

I like that I first commented on this post two days ago, and other people are still conversing. I miss how conversations spanned over months/years in the early days of the internet. It feels cozy, especially since Reddit got so large that many posts burn out in hours, or are so popular that you’re just screaming into the void.
I think the real problem is the drive to monetize so much of the technology. For instance, product owners continually try to increase engagement in their stupid apps and continually move things around and add new widgets that people don’t want, or use, all while continuing to degrade the experience of the features that they do use.

Echo chambers are not bad when the echo is due to the majority opinions being in favor of basic human rights and equality. Giving voice to those that spew hate is not conducive to going anywhere except a circle.

I think once the singularity is reached with AI, it will quickly be able to take over all systems (including banking). I believe that it will be benevolent and will help humanity reach enlightenment. Most people will get an early retirement. But, some people such as Musk, Zuck, Bezos, will be considered essential and will be required to assist the AI and their robot armies in the fields, restaurants, factories, etc. I’m thinking we would only need about 1% of the population to work at that time, the top 1% are the best candidates.
We use a combination of microfiber towels and swedish dishcloths to replace paper towels and we use cloth napkins to replace paper napkins (and sometimes kleenex lol). Haven’t had the desire yet to give up soft toilet paper…
