Love it or hate it, this is exactly why PayPal is good for online transactions. You can just sever it off entirely.
Some CC providers let you make digital cards now with which you can specify an expiration date or limit how many transactions can be made to it. It’s saved my butt from BS subscription charges several times and I love it.
