In the midst of it all, Elon Musk’s alleged account shows up. He calls himself The Antichrist, and the things he is saying is giving me cold sweats.

People got IP banned all the time. How would they do that based on a post if there wasn’t IP data connected to the messages? Combine with text being small storage size, and I can’t believe that anyone over the age of 22 thought that there was any true anonymity from the backend.

My assumption is that this person doesn’t understand how 4chan works, or how websites work, and is shocked that user data existed. It is a mild bombshell if mods (assuming this person is not conflating mod role with admins) had access to user ips but not really that big of a deal. And if you post on an “anonymous” website and don’t understand it collects location data like ip and stuff you’re kind of dumb. 4chan explicitly states this.
If mods (not admins) had access to stuff like email addresses for pass users that’s a bigger deal. On the other hand if you bought a 4chan subscription you’re real dumb.
Honestly the biggest bombshell from this hack that people aren’t really talking about is the release of location statistics for /pol/ and seeing Israel IPs posting there at a rate of 2:1 to American and UK ips. Given the role pol had in the rise of the modern alt right that is highly suspect

If you don’t recognize how responsible /pol/ is for the rise of global alt right movements and fascism, you aren’t paying attention.
I know that the stuff written in 4chan was awful, but I think that having it as even a major catalyst for fascism globally is very reductive, and doesn’t explain things like conservatives rejecting the Alt-Right, or Democrats simply siding with the party, or various megacorporations funding mass media like Fox News and PragerU, or think-tanks like the Heritage Foundation. Obama did nothing about it when PragerU showed up in 2015 or so, and Biden did little about hate-speech when he was president, but what he did could be weaponized against anti-fascists. For those saying that he was too old to accomplish this, the rest of the party that was younger made the same liberal mistakes he did, and Trump also had his moments where he was babbling, making Biden inexcusable.
If Hillary got elected in '16, and banned hate speech like in Germany and France, it wouldn’t make much a difference in the big picture because they wouldn’t fix the problems with society that made fascism appealing in the first place, because both parties are funded by housing companies, medical companies that charge insane amounts, car companies, the Military-Industrial Complex, and the Israeli apartheid state. She could certainly amend the constitution to allow her to take down 4chan, or actively police YouTube for anti-semites, but when she runs up against the fuel of fascist dialogue, things break down, and she’d probably be ousted from her own party like Bernie Sanders. This is why Pepsi-Cola actively donated money to Texas Republican lawmakers. The people that actually run fascism are the people who have always ran the economy, them being billionaires like Theil and Yarvin, and when speech breaks down, what remains is class interest. Said interest is not of a parent protecting their children, but of a witch fattening up Hansel and Gretel.
I’m not discounting corporatism and late stage capitalism, but /pol/ has coordinated active psy-ops - ie no one was ever really a “MAP”/“minor attracted pedophile” with a fucking pride flag. That’s not how real pedophiles act or justify their actions. I literally watched the threads in the early 2010’s. Coordinated attacks on Tumblr - like, yeah, there were always the stupid gory /b/ raids but /pol/ seeded people and ideologies in a more insidious way.

There was active, intentional plotting along the lines of making fake queer identities online to portray us all as deviants. /fit/ has brought fucking phrenology back into the mainstream. Or the scary esotericism of Blavatsky, Nick Land, Evola returning to some spaces of discourse… a lot of that was even being developed on places like /lit/, which you wouldn’t imagine as a threat. Reading these people fantasize about the Kali Yuga is like a cognitive hazard in that it’s difficult not to see how rapidly they’ve managed to put their accelerationist plans into action…
The problem still remains that these were not the people with social capital. Those who shifted society towards the right didn’t go on 4chan and start raids. They funded outlets like the Daily Wire and Prager University. Even the most loving gay couple, or harmless transgender woman goes up against “normalcy”, i.e. the hegemonic culture that people consider normal. Thus, such a culture will find ways to demonize said gay couple, or trans woman, thru any means possible. If 4chan didn’t exist, they’d find another way.
