Lol nothing says we are afraid of the working class like banning subreddits on suppressed news they don’t want us to see. I came here bc I got a warning on my account for liking a comment that said “Luigi”. My alt account got banned for sharing the DOGE email list that is public info. Fuck Reddit. I’m done.
Banned 3 years ago
Might have been your post that brought me to Lemmy, too. Saw lots of folks saying they got warnings for Luigi/other content I am interested in, and decided I am out, too.
Will spend a couple weeks encouraging people in some of my niche communities, and then no more reddit.
WHY DO YOU THINK WE SUPRESSED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE???
Reddit is cooked
LOL no they are not. 97% of the users don’t give a fuck about any of this and will never leave. Reddit can ride it out just fine. For example, look at the cesspool FB turned into.

half of it is bots, and the half is addicted to politics and news subs(includes any subreddit that talks about the above), and then theres the entertainment subs: like sports, movies, etc.
Every single Reddit user I know IRL cares a lot about this, my friends won’t shut up about it lol. Until now there haven’t been good alternatives.
im actually very private about my reddit use to other people, i seen them you shouldnt post sht or scoff at it. mainly because Some jobs monitor thier subreddits, eventhough the employer doesnt control it,
Reddit doesn’t have the internet infrastructure FB has where they were able to monopolise the internet of whole countries in certain parts of the world.
And the wider they cast this dragnet the more users will be caught up in it, the more will slowly leave, the less content will be created, the worse the platform will get.
I think for the future of reddit you only need to look at digg.
they are allowing open AI and google to scrape reddits data for themselves, and google is giving them some privileges, and i assume REDDITS AI monitoring system for banning is using google or open AIs tech.
Lets hope. Found Lemmy only just today and super glad I have.
It’s pretty cool over here and none of the cool user names are taken yet
Are you telling me your user name is usually taken when registering for a new service, AoxoMoxoA?
It was more a joke about Urmomsweetass’ user name
Welcome!
Welcome!
Thanks!
Welcome!
You even found your way off the biggest instance! I’m impressed. Most new users just go to World, but it’s not the best for the network. Indeed, my first account was there.
Haha Yea i was looking for something nit quite as large, but not feel like im in a desert. So far, so good.
I like my instance so far, can recomend
Welcome. I tried Lemmy a few years back but it wasn’t nearly as polished and way fewer people. Like BlueSky… But in 2025 I guess I’m here to stay.
I don’t care. Reddit banned me like 4 years ago for stating that “If you have the opportunity to punch a Nazi, you should always punch the Nazi.”
Being a reddit user is like being in an abusive relationship.
I just deleted all my previous posts on Reddit. Want to erase everything I can before leaving. Any hints on best way to wipe clean to avoid being used by AI?
Truly mind boggling to see how very little a site that once called itself “The Frontpage of the Internet”, seems to understand the internet
Lol think its funny how many ppl make the instance signup mistake I made, they fail the captcha by not reading it forced to not be able to use their username on their first instance of choice, we really need an option for captcha retrys
Have you seen reddits stock lately? esp. Today? RDDT
Oh, that’s funny
I can say h1 visas are bad for americans here and not get banned for a week wild
I’m gonna get downvoted to oblivion, but leaked isn’t public. I posted a link to leaked Starcraft: Ghost build on Web Archive. This game got removed from there.
You’ll get downvoted because you’re wrong. They’re government employees, the fact that they were trying to hide their identities doesn’t magically make it not public information.
Welcome refugees, the waters warm and we’ve got the kettle on for a cuppa
What’s worse in its way is that reddit policies basically state that once a subreddit has been banned they are free to ban any new attempts at the subreddit that might pop up.
That’s fine, my bans are permanent too…
Slashdot,Fark,Digg,Reddit, Lemmy…What did Slashdot do?
I’m not entirely certain to be honest. It was 25 years ago now. Whatever it was, I never went back lol
Edit: looking back since it made me curious, likely something to do with them going public back then.
Edit 2: I’m certain that’s what it was, because I remembered Fark was just Drew. That was very appealing during the dot com implosion. So, I moved from the new evil corp to the open source equivalent lol
I get that.
Was curious as I still read slashdot and find they’re one of the last sites left with comments.
oh yeah, i was still actually reading them too. until recently when they stopped working with ad blocking. when i’m done with a site, i might still visit. but, i remove my accounts and no longer interact. they still have some good conversation and links on occasion.
My adblocker (uBlock Origin) still blocks their ads.
But I get that as a reason for leaving.
Oh, my adblocker still blocked their ads. They just started throwing an error a few months ago (i think) that wouldn’t let me continue on the page unless i disabled it. I checked on occasion for a few weeks and it continued. It does look like it might work again, but they have finally lost themselves from my daily workflow lol
Sounds like a great sub to have over here.
