Not asking a political question. I would like to know all sides of this. It really seems to be a red flag under normal situations, but i haven’t heard it brought up very much.

I’ve just recently read this article with the full details, but i had to look for that on my own.

Again, not political. I’ve already cast my vote and just waiting for the outcome.

The reasons that nobody is mentioning it are most likely: (and this is coming from a random guy with no inside info)

    1. Obviously, it’s not something the Harris campaign would like to draw attention to.

    2. Trump’s already focused in on how she’s supposedly “keeping millions of immigrants and criminals on the streets”. To push a story that says the exact opposite does not prove the claim he’s trying to sell.

That and it was over a decade ago.

Like, Kamala is by no means perfect. But she’s a hell of a lot better than Biden, obviously better than trump, and literally the only option at this point.

If you want to try and pull her to the left on prison reform, then that could be a good use of time and effort. But complaining about something from over a decade ago doesn’t help anything.

That’s all i can gather. I just wanted to know why there hasn’t been much conversation about it. Yes, it was over a decade ago, but it seems to be something about her that i really don’t like.

Because her supporters don’t want her to look like a tough on crime ass hole.

And her haters want her to look like a soft on crime bleeding hearts leftie.

So nobody has incentive to push that narrative.

It’s literally the right community for any* question.

      * Any question not pertaining to illegal, medical, or psychological advice. Or against any other rules.

You’re not wrong but that’s kind of been my pet peeve with the reddit exodus. Hundreds of communities borrowing subreddit names but not including the actual themes that made the sub unique - this community is so generic without posting guidelines that might as well be asklemmy2.

The original intent of the subreddit was to be a space for asking “common knowledge” questions that you feel you should know but don’t like how often you should wash a hoodie. Politics were explicitly banned for being too complex and too open to bait.

Is there a directory of comunities compiled somewhere? I’m not sure how I would go about figuring out the best place to post something if I wasn’t already familiar with a relevant community.
