  • I love morons on this app implying this Biden tweet very obviously written by one of his staff is somehow representative of his superior mental state.

At least Trump is honest enough to be senile in the open, but you all run circles around trying to convince yourselves that Biden isn’t 3ft in the grave. Own it, admit you supported a sundowning genocide supporter

  • Sure, but an individual website may use only a few of those standards. Ladybird devs will pick a website they like to use - Reddit, Twitter, Twinings tea, etc. and improve adherence to X or Y standards to make that one website look better. In turn, thousands of websites suddenly work perfectly, and many others work better than before.

Ladybird is largely conformant to the majority of HTML standards now. It’s about the edge cases (and where standards aren’t followed by websites) and performance. This isn’t a new project.

  • If you want to use Linux without the terminal nowadays it’s pretty easy. But also I think the fear of the terminal is part of the culture that consumer electronics have cultivated where people don’t know (or want to know) how their systems work.

If you take the time to use it, not only can you save yourself time, but also learn a lot more about how you can fix things when they go wrong! That kind of knowledge gives you so much more ownership of your system, because you don’t have to rely on your manufacturer to solve problems for you.

Same for Mac and Windows too, the terminal is something that shouldn’t be necessary, but when it is it helps to know what you’re doing. :)

  • I’ve been using wayland on my laptop somce the new year and beyond some driver issues that were purely on AMD’s side (and not entirely Wayland exclusive either) I’ve had no problems.

Stuff like application scaling works so much nicer on Wayland, and X11 just wasn’t very stable when handling fullscreen games to the point where I’d set games to borderless or even windowed mode to stop it crapping out on alt-tab

  • in my uni house, the landlord once barrelled in without notice (highly illegal!!) to give us a rug, a new coffee table, and a bunch of crappy canvas wall art.

After we decided to sign for another year, following a few viewings, the landlord barrelled in without notice again to take it all back lmao.

  • Windows really screwed itself over with how it handled its integrated app store. By making it Microsoft-owned and moderated with a bunch of caveats on the format (compared to most Linux package repositories) you ended up with shit like FOSS apps being repackaged and sold for money, low quality ports of apps, and a bunch of bullshit that made people avoid it like the plague.

Linux for its faults with how package management works is far superior to even MacOS when it comes to finding free or low cost software. You get 80% of your apps available thanks to flatpaks and new apps can be uploaded with very little hassle compared to even iOS or Android. No fees, no lengthy review process (which could be a disadvantage arguably) and software is much restricted by the platform host.

While GenZ/A may be known for being bad with computers, I think it might just be a sign that Windows is so outdated and poorly designed that people coming from better-designed platforms are confused at shit older folk just put up with for decades.
