  • These people have no concept of geo politics and global trade. For example, we produce a lot of the world’s soy, that’s a major export, not many other countries do it on a large scale like that - so we cut the other countries some slack and tell them we won’t produce this particular good so you can have a hand in the global economy. Yes having the production here would be ideal as I’m all for it, but the world is so much more than Murica and they can’t see past their fucking noses.

Unfortunate. Seems like you got a rowdy bunch lol. If I recall right when I unleashed them on an aphid infestation I had them in there for like 2-3 hours. Idk I’d that would make a difference or not. A lot of them did peace out pretty soon after I let them loose, but a handful stayed around for a few days.

  • Yea, sometimes when I’m out in public, I like to listen to music on speakers. Sorry if it’s a mild inconvenience you have to HEAR something as we pass by each other. God forbid, yall need to lighten up.

I get being aggravated about people blasting music on a bose speaker in a bus or train (I used public transit in L.A. for years). But just enjoying my day sitting somewhere or going on a walk I might put it on a speaker, eat my ass if that annoys you.

  • Not sure about that, but there was an account of something similar in India, I believe, where there was a chemical agent involved that buzzards were extremely susceptible to and wound up killing off most, if not all of the population. This led to carcasses being left to rot and then became vectors for disease and basically led to a chain reaction of events that caused a few million people to die.

I don’t know if killing off mosquitos would have quite as a profound effect as this, but there are so many things I feel like we have almost no understanding of when it comes to the natural world to say either way.

I’ve read in a few comments here that there are studies saying that it wouldn’t have a crazy effect - if anyone could link them so I can give them a read, I would appreciate it.

My only problem with it is the fact that you’re taking a major insect class out of the ecosystem and later on down the line it might have serious implications. There will never be enough research on the effects of it until it’s too late to reverse. I hate mosquitoes (I live in Southern LA.) but I don’t think this is the answer.

I’m totally for how and why he dipped out. I’ve made a few decisions in life in a similar fashion. But a man as principled as he is, with feelings and ideas that intense, is a hell of a thing to lose in the pursuit of truth. Just imagine, if instead of resigning to almost insurmountable odds where most would be against him, he instead chose to be a stubborn man in the opposite respect and didn’t rest until the truth and was common knowledge or had created groups and institutions to further pursue it if not able to do it himself.

Things like this are way bigger than one person, and to understand the problem and try to tackle it would consume your whole life. Go on and pick some mushrooms my man. You made your contribution to society and decided the rat race isn’t worth it.
