The bodies of two more victims have been recovered from the rubble of the “Elastic” gunpowder factory in the Ryazan region, bringing the death toll to 23, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. According to the latest data, the number of injured after the explosion has reached 154.
Earlier, sources from ASTRA in the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the explosion in the gunpowder workshop of the factory occurred on August 15 at 10:41 a.m. local time. A fire started, which spread to three more buildings - a warehouse with shells loaded with TNT, and the buildings of the second production workshop. The workshop was also engaged in the production of 152 mm caliber shells. Shells of this size are used in heavy-class artillery systems: howitzers, guns, and self-propelled mounts.
The exact cause of the incident is still unknown; the preliminary cause is a violation of the technological process. Earlier, the local Investigative Committee classified the incident under Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities”).
To quote myself a few days ago:
“That does NOT look like an explosion that only kills 5 people”
Good. Russians deserve every attack as long as they are invading their neighbors. More dead Russians equates to less possible invaders.
This was an ammo manufacturer so double good as it makes it harder for them to maintain supply of munitions being used against Ukraine.
