What if “boba” is code for bugs?

soups make me angry sometimes, what am i supposed to do? swallow? chew? there’s so little to chew, and yet i can’t just swallow? >:|

same goes for yogurt, brain senses thickness, tells me to chew, but there is nothing to chew??? >:|

and with boba tea, one chew is enough to pop the balls, but one chew doesn’t pop all of them, so 90% of my mouth is liquid and yet i can’t swallow until everything is popped >:|

basically the only half drink - half foods i respect are stews, because those have enough food to chew normally, and the soup part is basically like a lot of sauce

… how did my parents miss my neurodivergence i have no idea

90% of the time it’s willful ignorance. That or (assuming you’re in the US) not having the means to pay for treatment, so it’s easier to not get a diagnosis in the first place.

What do you feel about using mouthwash? (Like the kind that doesn’t hurt and doesn’t have a bad flavor.) You keep it in your mouth without chewing and without swallowing

yeah but i go wshnshwshwshwsh with the liquid back and forth in my mouth so it’s fine

the part that my brain apparently has a problem with is - if for swallowing and not watery -> must chew. so when it’s mostly watery but not exactly i get both “chew” and “just drink it” signals which is >:|

For a second, I couldn’t think of anything crunchy and then I thought about the Oreos blizzard And I was like you’re goddamn right, but to be fair I don’t mind Boba either

    Boba is code for boobs.

borrowed from Chinese (Beijing) bōbà, name for the large tapioca balls found in the tea, perhaps literally, “large breasts, large-breasted woman”

A good fruity drink with chunks of fruit to chew is awesome! I also like to kinda chew on the ice in a slushie, not like rough ice chunks but compacted slush.

Boba tea doesn’t gross me out, but the balls don’t appeal to me either. Just extra stuff that adds nothing fun.

There’s so many different types of boba “balls”, and even the “same” ones have different textures and flavours depending on the boba shop you buy from!

Many boba shops (at least the ones here in HK) also offer an incredible selection of different things you can have in your drink in place of just tapioca pearls, stuff like grass jelly, aloe vera, agar jelly, basil seeds, red beans, pudding, and the list goes on.

I’m sure you’ll be able to find something from boba shops that tickles your fancy, even if it’s just fruit tea with coconut jelly chunks.

No, I don’t think I will. It really does fall in the category of just not wanting flavor balls in my liquid drink, the whole concept is unappealing to me outside of liquids with more texture like blended fruit. Fruit chunks in that are great!

Yes, I tried over a dozen times already because my daughter loves boba tea. It just isn’t my thing.

The tapioca…I weirdly like it. Except I choke on it. I love the tea itself. I don’t love choking on it, but I forget the tapioca is in there half the time.

Not sure if being autistic matters in this instance. My wife will not eat grits due to texture but I do enjoy some buttery grits.

I like coconut water that bits of coconut in it. I do not like boba tea.

Texture preferences and dislikes are really weird differences between ASD peeps.
