I have an account on lemmy.ml and two days ago it started logging me out of the website whenever I close the browser tab or browser. This behaviour does not occur on other websites where I choose to stay logged in. So my browser functionality is working as intended.

Has anything changed on Lemmy, cause it used to work for years? Anything I can do?

For me the jwt login cookie is being set to expire in 3023, I edited it to 2026 and it works

I have that from time to time. I connect a few times, and then it goes away. I never understood how it works.

I used to have it from time to time too, but not it’s every single time and that’s inconvenient.

it seems to have become more frequent recently.

i’ve been experiencing the same on firefox and i’ve also heard other people report the same on firefox, which happened around the time of the firefox 129 release. i didn’t see anything noteworthy in the release notes though that’d explain this. it seems like it might be related to enhanced tracking protection and cookie isolation.

Refreshing logs me out when I’m logged in and does nothing when I’m logged out.

Thanks! I was searching for posts before I posted but hadn’t found that post.

Edit: that post suggests to clear cookies - I’ve tried that twice on two machines, same problem still.

      • Sorry if it came across like I was implying that you should have commented there first – that was definitely not my intention! I actually considered making a post on my instance about it too, because I know some people primarily browse local stuff and would likely miss a post from another instance.

I just wanted to let you know it wasn’t just you and maybe encourage you to comment there, too, in the hope that more of us mentioning in each post that we’re having this problem might help lead to clues and a fix. 🙂

No not at all, I just said that because I’m often under the impression that many people never search before posting and it sometimes annoys me so I try not to make the same mistake :D. I still miss the old forum days where we had that Bart Simpson meme.

Thanks for piecing it together, it might be a problem for more users, I’m relieved to read it’s not only happening to me!
