12 year old account got permabanned for telling a Nazi off. But even before this happened I’ve noticed how much reddit has dropped off the last few years compared to when I discovered it.
Shitty moderation, biased mods, oh well
I just got banned for saying that if RFK doesn’t believe in germ theory we should dust him with anthrax and see what he says, lol.
Capitalistic facism aka enshittiffication.
It’s starting here too I called out a 5hr old account for being a suspected Russian bot and my comments were removed. I also got mobbed on by a manosphere group in a comment on an article about a book that a woman wrote about being doxed with revenge porn. The toxic Reddit culture is starting to come over.
I find anything remotely pro women has always got shitty comments from the manosphere. We recently had a spate of shitty male comments on !WomensStuff@lazysoci.al
Thanks for this response. I feel less alone. It’s pretty frustrating to see these manosphere mobs claiming victim status and accusing people of misandry when they speak frankly about their experiences. I was hoping that lemmy would be a better space for this kind of thing.
I know, it’s disappointing. The nice thing is how fantastically supportive so many men have been, I’ve had a few DMs and really nice comments from them. It’s just the bad are so awful
You’re on lemmy.world, they’re the default landing zone but imo there is better moderation on dbzer0 and others. Keep looking around and report stuff you see if it’s hate content. Good luck…
Elon whined to the admins, reddit is completely run by fascist bootlickers lmao. You can’t even shit talk dusty evangelicals for being the amoral murder rapists they are without getting a site wide ban
Oh good I’m not alone in believing something weird is going on like AI moderation. Random old account I had I wasn’t even using got a notification it was permabanned for violating a rule. No definition of which rule. Tried asking. Just a repeat that I violated a rule with no definition of which rule.
It must be just bots on there now.
no your not, i noticed it was odd that i wasnt recieving the incident of the ban, like they usually give if you get banned. but its just AI message and autorejection. and then the last thing, other accounts i havnt used years ago is banned too.
additionally, i had recieved a temp ban prior but it somehow triggered this.
Thanks,
I think I’m now just super creeped out at the thought of an entire site that is just AI bots now, updooting and responding to each other.
Or maybe I should be relieved. I was checking some of the stuff over there lately and I’ve just been getting sad and depressed about how stupid people have been getting.
Although it is Weird that Elon is getting offended by bots tho. Apparently he’s been asking spez to get rid of the mean dems saying bad things about him.
Billionaires are taking control of any avenue for free speech. Get yourself ready to switch to torr. Won’t be long now until it’s the last place free of misinfo/disinfo campains.
You think it’s bad? Go look at “popular” while you’re not logged in (no subs / filters). It’s shocking how insipid the experience is.
Just looked. It’s basically Trump, Trump, vapid stuff, Trump, vapid stuff, vapid stuff, Trump on repeat
Going to the new section at night really shows how overridden the site is with bots.
I canceled my reddit premium account a few months ago. I was shocked at how numerous and annoying the ads are.
You might be the first guy I’ve heard who paid for premium
People paid for premium??
Enshittification happened, a long time ago.
Left about 3 months ago, has not been missed.
Me, too. 12 year account, 900K+ Karma. I was looking forward to crossing the million mark this year.
At first I was concerned about having fewer people on Lemmy, but for things like Politics, the quality of discourse is far higher than Reddit. Every Reddit post is filled with puns, idiots, trolls, Russian propaganda farmers, etc., all of which are far smaller or non-existent on Lemmy.
I still miss Reddit’s active guitar subs, though.
You need to delete all of your content ASAP because 12 year account can be 100% tied back to you. Everything you said and all of your history data might as well be public on the web with your name right now so you should keep that in mind.
Its laughably easy to tie accounts to identities these days with machine learning tools and 12 years of data is a lot.
they retroactively banned accounts because of that.
not sure I follow? Your new account gets banned? You need to create it on a new ip and clear browser data. The easiest way to do that:
- Clear your browser data for the page entirely (best to make a new browser profile).
- Use celular hotspot for mobile network IP. These are highest value IPs as they are residential and shared between a pool of people. Very difficult to fingerprint.
- Create account with an email and details you have not used before.
- Use that setup for a while then switch to a VPN.
This is a very effective anti-fingerprint strategy that will get you over 99% of fingerprint systems and allow you to make as many accounts whenever you want.
Can you ever use the app again?
Loved r/huskers the one here on Lemmy exists but it’s pretty dead
its the astroturfing from the russian trolls
The only reason I log in there now is to slowly erase my comment history.
Literal brownshirt-wannabes are not worth engaging on social media, and “don’t feed the troll” has been an Internet aphorism since last century now
Just in case you didn’t know this, here is a program that lets you mass edit and delete all your comments on Reddit:
https://redact.dev/services/reddit
The free version only edits all your comments with random words, but for me was good enough just to delete my main account asap.
I’ve seen the randomized replacement text results here and there. Right now I’m getting some entertainment value from rereading my footprints before I scrub them, but I might look into that service.
I’d say the most recent major influences were the IPO and the emergence of LLMs.
Reddit becoming a publicly traded company and the preparation to do so certainly initiated a major shift in its priorities.
Ai and large language models make it easier than ever to create shiny, but low quality content.
And the rest is just reddit becoming more mainstream leading to an overall shift towards banal rather than niche topics.
I suspect they have been tweaking the front page algorithms to bury niche posts. Niche subs that I already follow don’t seem to have changed, but r/popular and r/all have definitely lost their spark.
pushing r/conservatives, and any sub that talk about politics to the front was pretty obvious of the manipulation. Also the “baiting subs” like glowups, gym is there too.
i said they are following the facebook method, FB is now mostly AI using old accounts pushing right wing propaganda, i only see reddit will do the same eventually. or they try to look like a"both sides" type of site while allowing signicant astroturfing from russian trolls.
I’m just there for the porn, these days. Any sort of meaningful interaction with people happens elsewhere.
Uh… no offense, but why go to Reddit for porn when there’s PornHub, Xvideos, and Jizzle?
