Honestly, say something useful or keep it to yourself, OK? These lil ‘gotcha’ comments do nothing but take up space and make you feel a misplaced sense of having done something (when you’ve in fact, done nothing).
Stuff like this comment, the mango Mussolini comments, the evil Cheeto comments, it all just fucking does nothing while still making people feel like they’re being transgressive. You’re not. It diverts energy from doing/talking about stuff that affects real change.

I don’t even think he new the possibilities of what he can do with Twitter before he bought it. He bought it and after that he needed something to do with this shit pile and found the solution in manipulation and illegal election donation
I think he had to enter into agreements about content in order to get financing from the Saudis and Russians.
Musk bought Twitter because he fucked around trying to manipulate the stock price and accidentally made an agreement he couldn’t back out of. He tried. He failed. He was forced to buy it according to the terms he previously specified.
I hate my conspiricy theory minded family but if someone told me they had proof Musk expressly bought Twitter to get right wing power in America and used the buyer’s remorse stock price manipulation attempt gone south as a cover story?
I’d believe it.

The reason that conspiracy theory is appealing is the same for all conspiracy theories; it’s more comforting to think the powerful have a clever masterful evil plan than the sad reality that we’re all making it up as we go, even the literal Nazis.

I read the article and the headline is more like click-bait. There’s a lot of innuendo, but not much in the way of factual reporting. I can’t stand the arrogance of Musk, I also believe that venerable reporting companies should be fact based.

My permaban came from a post about DOGE. They deleted the comment, permabanned me, and wouldn’t let me see what I even commented. They said it was “encouraging violence” but hell no, I was making sure not to say anything like that. Wonder if I just insulted Elon and reddit decided to finally get rid of me.
That…should be intolerable for redditors, you’d think this would finally make them leave.
I did. I got banned for “Musk fuming is fatally toxic”. The platform is dead now. I bet he has good dirt on Huffman.
I tested just writing “Luigi” and was banned for a day. I deleted my 10+ years account with over 200k karma. I was so attached to that profile, but I promptly deleted it after being banned. Fuck these billionaires telling us what’s ok to say.

I think they were using the karma count to show how much they utilized the platform, emphasizing how big the gesture of deleting their account was.
When I was deep in the Reddit hole I was obsessed with getting upvotes and avoiding downvotes. It was a dopamine hit. When I moved to Lemmy I joined an instance that doesn’t allow or show downvotes, and it has been a breath of fresh air.
When I hear of a Redditor be like this I yearn to test out that napalm recipe like literally how can you be this regarded.

Reddit is solidly shitlib. They easily get more upset over policy than their own lack of influence over policy. These are people who think the elites care about petitions.
