OpenVPN allows multiple connections if you enable duplicate-cn:
–duplicate-cn
Allow multiple clients with the same common name to concurrently connect.

It was allowing me to make multiple connections but they were unpredictable, I assumed it was a unified problem back in the day thanks for the information!
