I visit the Starfield subreddit sometimes just to check top posts and see if anything substantial has been added to the game, and there’s always some bullshit about how the game is so great, how they didn’t listen to all the criticism and tens of thousands of first-hand accounts or pages upon pages of logical reasons why the game shouldn’t be priced at $70… It honestly reeks of desperation to get other people to join in with them in the idea that they have not wasted their money on the game, and that is somehow, in some way shape or form, worth the absurd price of $70 …

For what it’s worth, I have purchased every single Bethesda game that has ever been released and enjoyed all of them in some way. Starfield is the only Bethesda game I have not purchased, I played it through game pass thankfully, and when I saw that the price tag was $70 I literally laughed out loud. I was in the University library, and people look at me like I was insane. If only they knew what I was laughing at. $70 for a game that is less than half finished, and based on their track record, will never be as finished as other games out there that offer so much more. For example, no man’s sky… I didn’t play No Man’s sky at launch, I picked it up on sale for 30 bucks during summer sale cuz it looked somewhat amusing and had VR in the tag. That game easily has twice as much content and as many features as starfield, and it is less than half the price.

It truly confounds me how anyone can be happy with that game the way it is, and how they haven’t reduced the price. $70 is simply batshit crazy. If they reduce the price to 20 bucks, which is what it’s really worth, I’m sure they would see a huge influx of new players and people purchasing the game. But for $70? It’s like they’re trying to kill the game!

Now is the time for empathy.

Imagine your favorite game was getting shit on by literally EVERYBODY on the Internet. You’re probably going to want to defend your favorite game. Especially if you’re in a community dedicated to people who play that game, you’ll probably have many other people jump in and help you defend it.

I don’t know why people enjoying a game you never bought bothers you so much.

For reference, I also tried it on Gamepass, but I didn’t make it through the tutorial because the game kept crashing. So, no love for it here, but why bother complaining about those who had a better time than us?

It’s literally the exact reason for the QUIT HAVING FUN meme. So you think it’s a rip off, so you’re disappointed with it. Fine, don’t buy it. But other people are having fun, and they can enjoy it just as much as you don’t.
