Ok, I’m sorry for this question, and if this isn’t the right community, please let me know where I should ask it.

So a user in a different community is making a big deal about how terrible I am and that I have been “perma-banned” form an instance.

And he posted this screen shot as “proof.”

But I have no indication I have been perma-banned from any communities or instances and never every heard of this unix instance and I don’t even know how to use unix.

I’ve attached a screenshot. Can you guys better explain to me what this means?

I legit have no clue what he is trying to imply. Any pointers?

    I’d say a large chunk of the Lemmy userbase has been permanently banned from at least one instance, that instance being one of the .Ml domains.

      Hmm, but any idea on what post would have banned me and I never received any notification. I did crosspost some socialist community articles to the .MI socialist community now that I think of it.

      But I never got any negative comments nor any notification. But maybe it was because I crossposted an article?!

      Because the user attacking me who showed the screenshot is trying to show how “toxic” I am, but I still have no clue and nothing in there says anything about “toxic.” lol

      I mean, not that important. Since I didn’t even know I got permabanned from whatever instance it is, but just curious. Thank you!

        The comments aren’t loading on that post for some reason, so I can’t read what they’re saying for myself, but if this is their evidence, I’d say they’re full of shit.

          Someone mentioned that any owner of an instance can ban me. Is it possible that the guy who is showing me this “proof,” yet declined to show me any posts, actually owns an instance, and then banned me. Then returned to magically say “Gotcha!”?

          Cuz he has been following me for several days and has had some of his comments removed for civility. So I am wondering if it’s some weird persona vendetta. Our conversation is in the thread, but i am beginning to think this is all a fack gotcha to weirdly make him think he has got me or something. I don’t know. I love Lemmy, but man some of these posters…lol

            I like the platform, but some of the users really need to get out more, they get hung up on some ridiculous things.

            And Linux. Holy shit do they love talking about Linux. They run Linux, by the way.

              I was going to get into Linux right after I retired, but then decided un-retire and went back into the workforce to be an elementary teacher’s aide.

              But when I retire again in another year or so, I am gonna look into the the whole Linux thing. Right now I’m Mac-based, so hopefully it won’t be so hard. But I actually can’t wait to learn all about it!
