It’s so weird when people say dogs don’t know time.
My dog gets a Dentistix at 6am and 3pm, and that motherfucker knows when it’s time.
If he ever gets one a little earlier than normal, I have to deal with weeks of him insisting the time change was permanent and he doesn’t have to wait. But if I stick to the schedule, so does he.
The crazy part is how fast he adapts to daylight savings time.
My doodles know 8 am is when they get their morning potty and food then it’s back to bed until 9 (assuming I don’t have work)
One of them is very smart but they both have an excellent sense of time. Way better than me, tbf tho my sense of time is horrible so that’s a low baseline
Some dogs might know what time it is, but cats are practically chronometers.
They tend to have extremely precise routines, especially as they get older, and you’d better not break them (unless it’s to their benefit, in which case the change will be permanently incorporated into the routine) or things are gonna get loud.
My beagle gets excited for hers early if I happen to be home, I suspect my wife gives them to our dogs much earlier than I typically do, because she is very consistent with when she starts begging.
Generally their alarm is me coming home at the end of the day. Most Saturday nights I go out with some friends and my wife gives them their dental bone. Sunday nights are the nights they think it’s much sooner than typical.

My cat, too. I feed him every day at 5:45 and that little butthole knows when 4:45 rolls around and it’s time to start bugging me.
Sounds like your Cattm RTC (real time clock) is defective would you like a Cattm replacement?
Yes!
(No.)

My dad has this issue. I’ve asked him: why not set an alarm so the dogs know that when it goes off it’s time?

Your dog is kinda stupid. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you (early)
She’s very motivated by those dentine treats.
