Ha you might not know it from some of these replies! Might bust out some Campbell’s.

Maybe for dinner tonight…
Oooh heartburn be damned, that does sound good!
A couple of my coworkers and I, all musicians, had kids around the same time and we all complained about being able to hear the loop in the rain or ocean “white” noises from various baby machines.
I’m kinda into pizza this way, sometimes. The frozen pizza I prefer has a thick crust kinda like this AI crust. But I 100% understand why people wouldn’t like it; I figure I’m in the minority. At least there’s enough of us that the grocery store sells a frozen pizza that I like.
Oh yeah /r/stupiddovenests was awesome.
One of the subreddits I miss terribly is /r/divorcedbirds. She would fit in nicely. But someone cleverer than me should come up with a good backstory.
I’m in a different position financially than where I was six years ago.
Flooding the used Tesla market is not a strategy I had heard before you mentioned it, actually. Maybe if I was in the same position that I was six years ago financially, I would be making different choices. But I’m not.
As for my soul, Lemmy talks a big game about focusing on the class struggle, but whenever I admit to having a Tesla, everyone piles on like I am the worst person ever. I got flat out scammed by VW and I certainly didn’t fucking know that Musk was quite as massive a tool as he has shown himself to be now. Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention. But all I’m saying is that I’m not the real enemy here.
We did not purchase full self driving. My husband rightfully thought that it was a bit of a pipe dream. I’m too much of a control freak to allow a car to drive for me. Also six years ago was 2019 so if you think I fell for “full self driving by 2016” then I think you can’t do math.
Any car is sold at a loss. As someone who recently paid one of these off, I can’t stomach a new car payment in the face of our melting economy because six years ago I didn’t foresee the head of a car company turning out to be a freaking nazi.
Considering my Tesla replaced a VW TDI, I’m feeling particularly salty and completely disillusioned about ethical consumption under capitalism, etc. etc. I wish people on Lemmy could have some empathy and not just assume that everyone driving a Tesla is sanctioning anything that Elon Musk does.
What we do in the shadows
I looked into this for my son, who gets really bad hiccups. We have lots of regular straws, so before I bought a special one, I had him try a regular straw that was pointing straight down at the bottom of the cup so that it was letting in as little water as possible. Totally works (most of the time).
An Affair to Remember (1957) Yes I did watch it because it is referenced in Sleepless in Seattle and yes I did blubber cry just like the SiS characters suggested.
2003, I think; at least it’s the first I remember. I was 20 and in college. I had just missed out on voting in the Bush/Gore election and was a bit salty about it. Anyway I got to vote in the Gray Davis recall election in California and yes I voted for Schwarzenegger if I remember correctly, but you gotta understand how completely crazy the choices were. Also I was 20 and dumb, or at least I was still one of those people who “hated politics” and didn’t pay much attention.
2011 Jetta TDI. Newly married, my husband has a weakness for shiny new things. He had a 2008 Jetta and wanted to sell it and “upgrade” to the more efficient and environmentally friendly (er, about that) TDI. A few years later we bought a second TDI.
If you’re not familiar with Dieselgate, well, yeah, we got defrauded basically. Long story short, we ended up selling both and replacing them with…
Teslas. Sigh. Fuck me.
Mine might be that we didn’t own an encyclopedia; I can’t remember if we did or not. But… I think we did.
I am a lurker, mostly. I have never tried to change anyone’s opinion online that I can think of. But as a lurker, you can bet that my viewpoint might be changed by a good argument, even if it’s not directed at me. Just as it happens with religion, I’m sure there are conservatives (or leftists for that matter) on the internet that may have cracks beginning to form in their worldviews, and the right exposure on the internet can send them down a rabbit hole of questioning and considering alternatives. I suspect a major part of the reason I have gotten more and more leftist myself over time is because of exposure to good arguments on the left and much fewer on the right, plus the lack of desire from the right to partake in good faith arguments.
So what I’m saying is, your argument may not get through to the target, but there is collateral … well, not damage, but you get what I mean.
Specifically lots and lots of Axe, like way too much
Babies brushing (or trying to) your hair is real life. I have several pics of my then-toddler’s creations in my hair, complete with about forty hair clips and bows.
Don’t get me wrong, I want the carbs but my gut disagrees!
