This basically the setup for Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. It’s an anime where a guy has his soul drained by an awful company and when there’s a zombie apocalypse, his first reaction is to break into the corner shop and get some beer and have a day off. It’s a fantastic series about living life to the fullest, and the art is so great: it’s incredibly colorful, as opposed to most super-desaturated apocalypse media.

That’s basically the plot of Shaun of the Dead too.

Kind of, he doesn’t actually know about the zombies until after he goes to the store, he’s just on such hardcore autopilot.

No but as soon as he finds out his first reaction is to go to the Winchester, have a pint and wait for it to blow over.

I love how there was a section where everything was in black and white but got more colorful as the MC realized he’s finally free while getting chased by the zombie horde.

My interest in anime has waned pretty significantly in recent years but did check it this one when I first heard about it. Absolutely excellent, fun, and very moving towards the end.

The great thing from their perspective is, even if they can’t make you be onsite, you can still have to work on snow days.

you can still have to work on snow days.

        When wasn’t that true? Lmao

But some school districts did try to pull that bullshit including the one for my kids. Ours reversed course after many parents (including me) started loudly complaining about it lol

I feel bad thinking this, and don’t want anyone getting sick or dying for any reason, but the beginning days of the COVID pandemic were some of the happiest days of my life.

That sucks, sorry to hear it. I’m not in hurricane country, but shear winds knocked down some trees in our yard. One hit the neighbors’ garage and a big branch destroyed part of our fence, which keeps the dogs from escaping. Thankfully, I was able to patch it before they got out (we have a dog door).

I hope you, your loved ones, and your place of living are okay.

And I hope your power is back, if you’re one of the like MILLION affected.

Always dreamed of a being in a post apocalyptic world, naively thinking I would be a lone survivor just hanging out in the wild, while in reality I would probably just be one of Immortan Joes slaves.

While in college we considered any evening snow to mean the next day would have classes canceled. Usually wrong but we had fun.
