I hope more people would hop on to i2p. Its really easy to setup.
Especially with the Easy Install Bundle for Windows. Sets everything up for you.
Yup. Linux also was really easy. I have used both.
Is there a how to for Linux?
I2P is great for privacy but it sloooooow even much slower than Tor from my experience
Maybe there’s fast node out there but who knows… 乁( ⁰͡ Ĺ̯ ⁰͡ ) ㄏVideo states it should be way faster.
If you’re using it to browse webpages on the clearnet then yes, it’s slower, because that’s not the use-case for i2p. I’ve seen speeds around 1MBit/s which isn’t lightning fast, but also not terrible for an anonymous network.
It should be faster unless its under attack. When was the last time you used it?
Last month
You may of used it right when it was hit with an attack
the site 404s.
here’s my ¢2:
- install i2p or i2pd
- install qbittorent
- enable i2p on qbittorrent (settings -> connections)
- find the torrent you’re looking for on postman tracker (on the installed i2p browser)
- that’s it!
If only it would be that easy… First hurdle there is no “enable i2p on qbittorrent” ! After searxing around and coming across the last comment of a reddit post (not even the official forum), you have to download qbitorrent with libtorrent 2.0.x series.
On the qbittorent download page chose the qbitorrent version corresponding to your system with
lt20
.Don’t make it sound I2P alongside qbitorrent is easy. It’s not ! There isn’t any proper tutorial on how to use i2p and eepsites in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, I’m doing my part, but for newbies/newcomers this sounds like an “install/forget” situation while it isn’t !
It is there for me on Arch linux. Distro package.
Edit: Based on your comment about going to the website to get the software. Maybe you are a windows user?
Maybe all package managers default to libtorrent 2.0.X, but that’s not true when downloading from the website.
Maybe you are a windows user?
Close enough… Got MacOS, Windows and EndeavourOS and there’s also an appimage available on their site so it’s not only because you’re a “Windows user”.
that’s fair.
i have it set up on a headless server running alpine linux and it has libtorrent2 in its repos. i did exactly as i explained and got it workin, so i was assuming lots of things, apparently.

Chill. He didn’t specifically mention it, but obviously just uses it for those shiny new Arch Linux (GNU/Linux) ISOs.
I’m not the one who needs to chill: the reporter whose name I redacted is.
